We are a Regenerative farm
At 1876 Heritage Farms, we recognize that Regenerative Beef is not only better for our health but also for the planet. Unlike conventional farming practices, we do not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and we ensure our thirty pastures are sustained by consistently rotating our cattle through them to graze on natural grass.Â
Regenerative farming focuses on restoring and enhancing the health of the soil, delivering nutrient-rich grass and ultimately, healthier animals.Â
Pasture-raising cattle is more humane than feedlots as there is no crowding, and each animal has freedom to roam. The animals are gently moved between pastures daily, by our experienced farmhands.Â
Regenerative beef farming prevents overgrazing, promotes biodiversity, and eliminates the need for harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This helps mitigate climate change by sequestering more carbon in the soil. improving water quality and preserving natural habitats. By choosing our Regenerative beef, you are not only nourishing your body with highest quality nutrient dense meat, but also supporting a sustainable and environmentally friendly farming approach.Â
1876 Heritage Farms Regenerative journey brings wholesome foods to Our Farm Store
Welcome to Our Farm Store in Oro-Medonte, Ontario – a family-run haven rooted in sustainable farming since 1876. Our regenerative journey has transformed our land into a flourishing home for Black Angus cows, ensuring top-quality beef for families who share our passion for all-natural, wholesome food. As earth stewards, we go beyond exceptional beef, extending our commitment to sustainable agriculture with regeneratively raised laying chickens joining the scene in March 2024. The future looks even brighter with plans for sheep milk products. Join us on this exciting ride, where family, land, and sustainability converge at Our Farm Store.
Pasture-raised Regenerative eggs
A recent addition, our egg-laying hens are pasture-raised, spending spring to fall pecking and scratching at the soil and laying eggs on our regenerative grazing lands. In the depths of winter, they will be free range in one of our barns. Chickens must have protein from grain to thrive so we supplement their pastured diet with non-GMO grains.Â
We are looking forward to the starting production in our on-site creamery of producing artisanal sheep cheese, and other dairy products made from sheep milk produced right here on the farm. Note to those with lactose intolerance, the protein in sheep milk is smaller than cows' milk and therefore often digested with little to no discomfort!
Creamery Coming Soon!
We are looking forward to the beginning of production of our on-site creamery. Once open, we will be producing organic, small batch sheep cheeses, and other dairy products made from sheep milk produced right here on the farm.
